Martin Hamala

I'm a Senior Product Engineer with 9 years of industry experience. I've worked in startups and established teams, and more recently I've been building and shipping my own products solo. I'm versatile and team-first, but equally at home working independently.

Product engineering, for me, means owning all of it rather than a slice: deciding what gets built and why, the interface people actually use, and the data model underneath. Then there is the unglamorous half that keeps it alive in production, from hosting and auth to rate limiting, automated tests and monitoring. TypeScript, React & Node.js are my preferred stack, and I've spent 4+ years working with TypeScript and React.

Over the years that has covered a government procurement platform, Santander's vehicle finance checkout for the Nordics, investor onboarding, accounting integrations, and rescuing a legacy codebase that arrived with no git, no tests and no documentation. Alongside that, Formfolio is entirely my own: an invoicing tool covering 142 countries and 73 document languages. For one client I built and still run a fully custom e-shop paired with an art gallery presentation portal, a combination they credit with a clear lift in sales. A few more ambitious projects are in development, some not listed here yet.
